Registration procedure: Register through your teacher (who is your Junior Club Counselor) or at our front desk.
Your teacher will help you decide which events to enter.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What if I sign up and can't come to any of the dates? The entry fees are non-refundable.
May I request Saturday, February 10 or Sunday February 11 or the Alternate date? Yes, tell your teacher (Junior Counselor) You may request a certain day and if it is available the scheduler will try to grant your request. Keep in mind there are over 1000 entries. Once registration closes, we need to stick with the schedule. Changes require an extra fee and extra work for the festival volunteer workers.
What do students do at the Festival? They play or sing required pieces that are listed in your teacher's Festival Bulletin for the different events. They play or sing for the judge with no audience. The judge gives them comments on their rating sheet and a grade. Superior (5 points), Excellent (4 points), Satisfactory (3 points), etc.
Are there volunteer hours? Yes, we need help at the Festival. Students, who need volunteer hours, are encouraged to help. Let your teacher know if you are interested. Adults are also needed to serve as room monitors. Insurance requires that there is an adult in the room.
Are there awards? Students receive a certificate and rating sheet. The points are kept each year until the student reaches 15 points. At that time, the student will receive a festival cup from the National Federation of Music Clubs for each event. The festival cups are given at 15 point intervals (15, 30, 45 etc)
Is there a next level? Yes, students who receive a Superior rating may participate at the Florida Federation of Music Clubs Junior Convention Competition. It is usually held the first weekend in May at the University of North Florida at Jacksonville. Registration and information is given out after the local Junior Festival. In General, students receive a certificate for participating at the state level. Awards: One winner is chosen to receive a trophy per level with honorable mention ribbons. This event requires a separate registration and event fees. Students play the same required piece that they used in the local Festival. There isn't a level beyond State.
Can Adults enter? Yes, there is an Adult Division of the Local Festival on the same weekend. The adults earn points towards a silver cup. The adults must join the Senior Club $35. The Festival entry fees are the same.
