Even though most of us can't be together to share Make Music Day (an international celebration of music-making), we wanted to put something together that shows the power of music! Please enjoy this video of some of our wonderful students doing what they do best!

Happy Mother's Day!
As a mom (especially now) we owe it to ourselves to take a break every now and then. We've got some great ideas to help you relax and get some time for yourself! Music-themed coloring page downloads for kids or more complicated ones for you! A relaxing jazz playlist; a perfect way to unwind.
All April long, National Jazz Month celebrates the heritage and history of jazz! The exciting history of jazz takes us through the deep south along back roads and into the big cities all across the United States and then the world.
Check out this great video by the National Museum of American History and get your jazz on! Sometimes we need to step away form the piano or other instrument to work on the music concepts.
Use modeling clay on a tray or wax paper at the kitchen table to form the music staff lines and spaces with the notes. We learn best when we create. Roll out long ropes for the lines and leave small spaces in between. Make another long rope to form in the shape of the clef signs. Make your notes in small oval or round shapes and place them on the lines and spaces. Candy version: Put Twizzlers for the lines and use mini sized cookies for the notes! Remember the AAA Travel Agency Contest for 8th graders? It wasn't just enter your name. You had to "do the paperwork" to quote Monsters Inc. Here are the rules: Students must be entering the 8th grade in good standing and at least 13 years old. A total of 60 students from Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota, Tennessee, Wisconsin, select areas of Illinois, Indiana, or Minnesota will be chosen for the “Discovery Crew” cruise. Winners will be selected based on “a creative selfie, showcasing their love for travel,” and the answers to three essay questions:
Ananya's path to the winner's circle: "Ms. Nancy", piano teacher and owner of Music N More, is always looking for information that will help our piano students and their families. Most of the time it is music related but any topic that is helpful gets shared with our music family. A few months ago, Ms. Nancy heard the news about the AAA Travel Agency contest for 8th graders. At her lesson, Ms. Nancy shared the contest news with Ananya and the family. Ananya entered, carefully following all the rules. (Music Students are good at that) When the family got an email back, they were suspicious that it was a scam. After investigating, they found that Ananya was one of 3 winners from Florida! Congratulations! Daly, scholarship winner, will appear with Bob to promote the Steinway Society of Orlando. The Divas & Dudes Concert to raise money for scholarships will be on Sunday, August 20th at the Orlando Museum of Art. Host Bob Frier, Entertainer Jacqueline Jones, Linda Cole as Pearl Bailey and Tribute artists performing as Dean Martin, Marilyn Monroe, Gladys Knight, Fats Domino and more.... 5:30 pm reception and Concert at 6:30 pm.
